From Oncology Nurse to Aesthetics:

How I Started My Medical Aesthetics Business in Nampa, Idaho

Sometimes the best journeys begin in unexpected ways. My path into medical aesthetics in Nampa and the Treasure Valley started with friendship, inspiration, and a willingness to try something new.

As a new graduate nurse, I began my career working in oncology, caring for patients who were going through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. That experience shaped me as a nurse and deepened my passion for helping people feel supported, cared for, and confident during difficult times. It also taught me the importance of patient-centered care, safety, and education, values that continue to guide my work today in medical aesthetics.

After over 20 years in oncology, a good friend of mine—who I worked with when we were both new nurses—decided to start her own aesthetics practice offering Botox, dermal fillers, and professional skincare treatments designed to soften wrinkles, restore volume, and improve skin health. I remember feeling incredibly proud of her for taking the leap and building something of her own.

When she first opened her business, I went to visit her not only to support her new clinic, but also to experience the treatments she was offering.

That visit ended up changing everything.

With her help and expertise, my skin looked healthier, smoother, and more refreshed than it had in a long time. I quickly realized how powerful professional skincare treatments and cosmetic injectables could be for helping people feel confident in their own skin.

But what inspired me even more was seeing how excited and passionate she was about her work in medical aesthetics. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and it made me start thinking about whether this might be something I could pursue as well.

Not long after that visit, I decided to take an aesthetics training course in Portland, Oregon to learn more about Botox, Jeuveau, Daxxify, and Dysport injections, dermal fillers, and skin rejuvenation treatments such as medical-grade skincare, dermaplaning facials, chemical peels, microneedling, and laser treatments.

The training was an incredible experience. I loved learning the science behind aesthetic medicine and discovering how aesthetics combines medical skill, precision, and artistry to create natural-looking results that enhance your features without looking overdone.

By the end of the class, I was hooked. I couldn’t wait to start practicing my new skills and continue learning in the world of cosmetic injectables and advanced skincare treatments.

Fast forward to today, and here we are—two years later. What started as curiosity has grown into a business that I truly love. Today I’m proud to provide aesthetic treatments in Nampa, serving clients throughout the Treasure Valley including Boise, Caldwell, and surrounding areas, helping clients feel confident and refreshed in their own skin.

One of the most rewarding parts of working in medical aesthetics in the Boise area is seeing the confidence boost people get after treatment. Whether it’s Jeuveau neurotoxin injections to soften fine lines and wrinkles, vitamin injections, or customized skincare treatments, I love helping clients look and feel their best.

Looking back, I’m so grateful that a simple visit to support a friend’s new business led me to discover my own passion for aesthetic medicine and eventually launch Snake River Aesthetics here in Nampa. Sometimes the best opportunities come from trying something new and being inspired by the people around us.

And this journey is only just beginning. ✨
